International Affairs (IR75)
The Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Master of International Affairs is a five-year combined degree program offered by the School of Global Policy and Strategy along with UC San Diego's undergraduate International Studies Program (ISP). The program is open only to ISP-Economics, ISP-Political Science and ISP-International Business majors at UC San Diego. Prior to submitting your application, you must meet with an academic advisor in the International Studies Program Office to ensure you are eligible to apply. Application materials must be uploaded or postmarked received by April 10.

The BA/MIA program requires students to have a primary track (8 courses) and a secondary track (5 courses), one each in Economics and Political Science, in either order. The undergraduate requirements are different than those for the standard International Studies-Economics, International Studies-Political Science and International Studies-International Business tracks. The final year of the BA/MIA program incorporates graduate-level course work at the School.
The regional requirement for the B.A. in the International Studies Program is separate from the Eleanor Roosevelt College regional specialization and the School’s country/regional specialization. The courses cannot overlap or be double counted. Please meet with an ISP academic advisor to ensure you are eligible to apply. |

Master of Advanced Studies International Affairs (IR77)
The School of Global Policy and Strategy (GPS) is the University of California's only professional school of international relations and the only program in the U.S. focused on the Pacific region. The Master of Advanced Studies in International Affairs (MAS/IA) degree is designed for professionals with a minimum of five years of full-time work experience. Students enrolled full-time complete the degree in one academic year; a part-time enrollment option is available to professionals with flexible work schedules.

Master of Public Policy (IR79)
The Master of Public Policy (MPP) is a two-year, full-time professional degree program. Constructing the scaffolding for policy making in a global context is the critical component of the MPP. This degree provides graduates with the skills needed to compare best practices in the United States, Latin America, Asia and beyond.

While the MPP does not have a language requirement, students may decide that language proficiency is an important skill for their career goal. Students will be allowed to use up to 24 graded units of undergraduate or GPS language courses toward the 92 units required for the degree. The courses must be taken at UCSD or through a UC transferable program while a matriculated student at GPS, and must match course work on a country focus. Approval by petition by fall of the second year is required.
